Saturday delivered everything we could have hoped for at the Nordic Championships – fantastic weather, a large and enthusiastic crowd and a wonderful atmosphere around the competition grounds. With exciting preliminary rounds, a full programme of B-Finals and new Nordic Champions crowned on the pace track, it was a day packed with memorable performances.
The day began with more action on the oval track, where Summer Sandlau Jacobsen of Denmark and Djass fra Engholm took the lead in the T2 Junior preliminary round, topping the results with an impressive score of 7.00 points.
B-Final victories and strong performances
Saturday also brought a long line-up of exciting B-Finals, with riders from across the Nordic countries battling for victory and a place in the A-Finals.
Sweden started strongly as Klara Nydahl and Dagur frá Ketilsstöðum won the F1 Young Rider B-Final with 6.69 points.
In the F1 Senior B-Final, Julie Christiansen and Djákni frá Selfossi representing Denmark claimed victory with a strong score of 7.24 points.
Amanda Frandsen and Tinna frá Litlalandi took the win in the V1 Young Rider B-Final, scoring 6.97 points, while Anette Korhonen and Alísa frá Strandarhjáleigu from Finland were victorious in the V1 Junior B-Final with 6.07 points.
The V1 Senior B-Final saw an impressive Swedish performance, with three Swedish combinations finishing in the top three. Victory went to Louise Löfgren and Hástígur Rex Depillsson frá Skoma, who secured first place with 7.10 points.
More Swedish success followed in the T2 Senior B-Final, where Elin Nilsson and Þokkadís frá Selfossi took the victory with 7.33 points.
In the T1 Senior B-Final, Filippa Montan and Lögg frá Slippen produced a winning performance for Denmark, scoring an excellent 7.50 points.
The T1 Young Rider B-Final was won by Elva Rún Jónsdóttir and Kvasir frá Steinnessi representing Iceland,who secured the top spot with 7.17 points.
New Nordic Champions crowned in P2
Away from the oval track, Saturday also brought thrilling action in P2 – 100m Pace, where new Nordic Champions were crowned.
Natalie Fischer and Ímnir fra Egeskov raced to gold after an exciting performance on the pace track, adding a Nordic Championship title to their achievements, and a gold for Denmark.
Olivia Agerhill and Júlía från Agersta also delivered a spectacular performance. Together they clocked the fastest time of the day in the P2 100m Pace and were crowned new Nordic Champions in the discipline.
And for one young Swedish rider, Saturday completed an extraordinary championship.
Triple gold for Vera Elgholm
What a Nordic Championships debut it has been for Vera Elgholm!
Competing at her very first Nordic Championships, the Swedish junior rider completed an incredible triple gold sweep, winning all three pace disciplines:
- PP1 – Pace Test
- P1 – 250m Pace Race
- P2 – 100m Pace
After already becoming Nordic Champion in PP1 and P1 earlier in the week, Vera completed the hat-trick on Saturday by adding the P2 gold medal to her collection.
Three starts, three Nordic Championship titles – an unforgettable debut and a remarkable achievement.
With sunshine over the competition grounds, packed spectator areas and fantastic support from the crowd, Saturday became another memorable day at the Nordic Championships.
And there is still more to come. On Sunday, the final day of the championships, more A-Finals await and the last Nordic Championship medals of 2026 will be decided. We are looking forward to one final day filled with great horses, exciting sport and a fantastic atmosphere!
